Passenger Killed In Sunday Morning's Single-Vehicle Crash On I-65 North
The passenger of a Toyota Camry killed in Sunday’s 2 a.m. crash on I-65 North has been identified as Austin Franklin, 24. The preliminary investigation indicates Franklin was involved in an argument with the 20-year-old Camry driver as they were traveling on Briley Parkway approaching the split at I-65 and Dickerson Pike.
During the argument, the female driver reported Franklin grabbed the steering wheel causing the Camry to turn to the right and leave the roadway. The Camry traveled down an embankment, crossed all lanes of I-65 North and struck a concrete median.
Franklin died at the scene.
The 20-year-old driver was transported to Skyline Medical Center where she is stable
